Internship & Independent Research Opportunities
DESGUA welcomes internship and independent research opportunities to work with us either in our U.S. office or our Guatemalan office! There are various of projects to work on and research topics one can consider, including in relation to grassroots organizations, marketing, environmental studies, gender studies, activism, youth development, migration, the arts, and education. You must be at least 18 years old to do an internship or an independent research with DESGUA.
The minimum internship length is three months and interns are asked to commit a minimum of 30 hours per week. Furthermore, interns must be at least intermediate in their Spanish-speaking .
It is required that the results from the independent research are shared with DESGUA. If you wish to do independent research with our Guatemala office, an intermediate level of Spanish is also necessary to have.
Other qualifications needed to do for an internship or an independent research:
- Interest in Guatemala
- A commitment to social change
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Strong writing and oral communication skills
