Collaborations
Since its inception four years ago, CALA has actively supported DESGUA in many different ways. In 2009 CALA provided support to the Grupo Maya K’iche initiative. In 2010, CALA provided DESGUA with fiscal sponsorship for the duration of the Cultural Remittances Grant awarded by the National Association CALA has also referred volunteers to DESGUA has received community members while coordinated conferences in Madison during our speaking tour of Latino Arts and Culture.
Biography
Community Action on Latin America’s mission is to educate the local and the Madison Wisconsin campus community about underlying social, political, and economic problems that are inherent to U.S. relations with Latin America, and to work as activists in solidarity with groups in Latin America that are struggling for peace and social justice. CALA hosts speakers from Latin America and other countries to talk about current conditions in Latin America. CALA also works with other solidarity and advocacy organizations in the Madison area on events and programs.
